B-ball slam

Why can basketball players call them them selves playas? Does that mean us hockey players are playas too? Also if they can say ballin, does that make us pukin? Finally if they can say we're playin' B-ball can we play H-key? Somebody please tell me why that is, leave your comments, opinions and basketball players defend yourself!
